Laurence Fishburne plays an ex-con making a heroic effort to stay straight in the new cable movie Always Outnumbered (9 p.m. Sat., HBO). Walter Mosley wrote the screenplay, based on his novel "Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned." The Beatles of comedy reunite in the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival Tribute to Monty Python (11 p.m. Sat., HBO), which features a Q&A session as well as a bit of performing and a guest appearance by the ashes of late Python member Graham Chapman. The new cable movie Escape: Human Cargo (8 p.m. Sun., Showtime) stars Treat Williams as an American businessman imprisoned in Saudi Arabia who plots a daring escape. Sarah Chalke, who was one of the Beckys on "Roseanne," stars in the new teen witchraft TV movie I've Been Waiting for You (9 p.m. Sun., NBC). The clip-packed documentary Hollywoodism: Jews, Movies and the American Dream (9 p.m. EST/10 PST, Sun., A&E) traces the founding of the Hollywood movie studios by immigrant Jews.
Alfre Woodard plays her old "St. Elsewhere" character, Dr. Roxanne Turner, on Homicide (10 p.m. Fri., NBC). What's the connection? "Homicide" producer Tom Fontana also worked on that esteemed NBC hospital drama. On "Homicide," Woodard's character admits that she's helping terminally ill patients die; Pembleton considers her a murderer. ABC News Saturday Night (10 p.m. Sat., ABC) updates a report on the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. Bart finds Chief Wiggum's master key to the city on a new episode of The Simpsons (8 p.m. Sun., Fox). The new sitcom Damon (8:30 p.m. Sun., Fox) takes the "King of the Hill" slot for a few weeks. Damon Wayans plays a Chicago undercover cop; David Alan Grier co-stars as his bumbling brother, a security guard who wants to be a real cop. The undercover premise means they get to do a lot of their old "In Living Color" characters. The X-Files (9 p.m. Sun., Fox) reruns David Duchovny's finest hour, the comical episode in which some babies are born with tails and a face-changing schmo named Eddie Van Blundht ("X-Files" writer Darin Morgan) is the culprit. You've got to see Duchovny playing Eddie playing Mulder at just a half-step slower than his normal self. David Crosby is the subject of a new Behind the Music (9 p.m. Sun., VH1). On Larry Sanders (10 p.m. Sun., HBO), Larry announces that he's quitting the show when his contract is up.
