SALON'S TV PICKS FOR
MONDAY, MAY 11, 1998
BY JOYCE MILLMAN

S E R I E S

Man of the hour Jerry Seinfeld is profiled on a new Biography (8 p.m. EDT/9 PDT, A&E). The Camdens are in crisis mode (is teenaged Mary pregnant?) on the season finale of 7th Heaven (8 p.m., WB). Everybody Loves Raymond (8:30 p.m., CBS) begins a two-part season ender in which Ray and Debra flash back to their wedding day during the '80s. If you haven't watched this show (the early time slot is prohibitive if you have kids), get to know it during summer reruns. It's the only grown-up family sitcom on the air; the humor is deliciously deadpan. On Ally McBeal (9 p.m., Fox), Richard meets his old flame, Judge Cone, in court and Ally sets the Biscuit up on a date. On the season finale of The Practice (10 p.m., ABC), Bobby represents a 13-year-old charged with murder.

S P O R T S

NHL Playoffs:
Capitols at Senators (7 p.m., ESPN2)
Stars at Oilers (8:30 p.m., ESPN)

Baseball:
Braves at Reds (7 p.m., TBS)

S P E C I A L S

The miniseries Only Love (9 p.m., CBS) concludes. Marisa Tomei and Rob Morrow star. And the miniseries Witness to the Mob (9 p.m., NBC), with Nicholas Turturro and Debi Mazar, wraps as well. Nick at Nite begins a week-long replay of Famous Last Episodes (10 p.m., Nickelodeon) -- yes, it's a "Seinfeld" tie-in -- with the series finale of "The Wonder Years."

T A L K

Rosie O'Donnell (syndicated) Robert Redford
David Letterman (CBS) Fran Drescher, Faith Hill
Jay Leno (NBC) Tori Amos, Don Rickles
Politically Incorrect (ABC) Joe Queenan, Jasmine Guy
Tom Snyder (CBS) Bill Maher
Conan O'Brien (NBC) Rob Schneider, Tim Russert (rerun)

E T C

Craig Kilborn has been plucked from his post as anchor of Comedy Central's Daily Show to take over CBS's Late Late Show when Tom Snyder leaves next spring ... Hard-boiled novelist James Ellroy ("L.A. Confidential") is writing an NBC drama pilot based on the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department's homicide unit ... Jerry Stiller, the once and always Frank Costanza, already has a post-"Seinfeld" gig. He's filming a CBS sitcom pilot called "The King of Queens" ... Producers of NBC's 1998 Emmy Awards have announced that the Sept. 13 telecast will be a four-hour extravaganza saluting 50 years of television. Great. Let me know how it turns out.
