Buffy the Vampire Slayer (8 p.m., WB) begins a two-part season finale that flashes back to Buffy, Angel and Dru's formative years. Also, Kendra, the other Slayer, arrives with a plan to restore Angel's soul. In what may be a prophetic season finale for the (undeservedly) low-rated NewsRadio (8:30 p.m., NBC), the WNYX crew is aboard the Titanic, and no, it doesn't make sense, but neither did last year's WNYX-in-outer space finale. Roz goes into labor on Frasier (9 p.m., NBC). Jen encourages Joey to enter a beauty pageant on Dawson's Creek (9 p.m., WB). Pacey enters too, to make a point. Frontline (check local times, PBS) presents "Inside the Tobacco Deal," an examination of the government's case against the tobacco companies. Katie Couric interviews Jerry Seinfeld on Dateline NBC (10 p.m., NBC). On NYPD Blue (10 p.m., ABC), Sipowicz gets some unsettling medical news and Simone and Russell make a big decision.

According to Variety, Norman Mailer will write the screenplay
for an ABC TV movie based on "American Tragedy: The Uncensored Story of the
Simpson Defense," the critical account of O.J. Simpson's Dream Team's
tactics by Lawrence Shiller and James Willwerth ... ABC has announced that
Glenn Close will star in a TV movie remake of the Rodgers and Hammerstein
musical South Pacific, to air next season on the 50th anniversary of
the musical's opening on Broadway ... And NBC is planning a 12-hour
miniseries adaptation of the Bible, to be executive produced by Sir
Richard Attenborough ("Gandhi"), that industry types are speculating will
be the most expensive TV production ever.
