Jimmy Smits and Daisy Fuentes host the ALMA Awards (9 p.m., Fox) (shorthand for the American Latino Media Arts Awards), which honors positive portrayals of Latinos in film and TV. Performers include Stevie Wonder with Tito Nieves and Sheila E., Celia Cruz with Patti LaBelle, Jon Secada with Boyz II Men and Dwight Yoakam with Tish Hinojosa; Benjamin Bratt, Jennifer Lopez, Oscar de la Hoya and Tyra Banks are among the presenters. More awards: Samuel L. Jackson hosts the MTV Movie Awards (9 p.m., MTV), with music from the Wallflowers and Natalie Imbruglia and the usual film spoofs, kooky categories and celeb sightings. People of the Century (10 p.m., CBS) selects the 20 most influential entertainers and artists of the past 100 years.

ER (10 p.m., NBC) is, of course, a rerun; it's the one where the docs scramble to treat victims of a school bus crash.
