Nova (check local times, PBS) presents "Titanic's Lost Sister," oceanographer Robert Ballard's search for the Brittanic, sister ship of the Titanic, which was sunk by a torpedo or mine in the Aegean in 1916 while serving as a WWI hospital ship. On a rerun of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (8 p.m., WB), the school is haunted by the ghosts of a student and teacher who met a tragic fate in the 1950s. NewsRadio (8:30 p.m., NBC) reruns the one where Bill wants to adopt a baby. Dawson's Creek (9 p.m., WB) returns to the WB schedule with a rerun of the first episode. Dateline NBC (10 p.m., NBC) has a no doubt hard-hitting exposé of unscrupulous air-conditioner repairmen. AFI's 100 Years, 100 Films (10 p.m., TNT) looks at films about obsessive quests. P.O.V. (check local times, PBS) has reporter-filmmaker Susan Stern's documentary "Barbie Nation," about America's fascination with all things Barbie. And hasn't this been done before -- a lot?

Picard and the crew from "Star Trek: The Next Generation." Starring William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes and Michael Dorn. In Part 3 of the endless miniseries Stephen King's 'The Stand' (9 p.m., ABC), the forces of Good send spies to Vegas, the headquarters of Evil.

Chris Noth will return as his character, Detective Mike Logan, in a Law & Order TV movie called "Exiled," to air on NBC this fall. Noth was written out of the show (he asked for too much money) a few seasons ago; his character was supposedly transferred to a patrolman beat on Staten Island for punching out a corrupt political official. The movie will pick up with Logan trying to rebuild his career ... Another new cast member has been added to Homicide: Life on the Street. Michael Michele (that's a woman) will play Detective Rene Sheppard, a beauty pageant contestant turned cop who transfers to the homicide unit from the fugitive squad ... HBO has announced that Chris Rock will return for a third season of his talk show, beginning next month. HBO has also renewed the Bob Odenkirk-David Cross sketch comedy series Mr. Show with Bob and David for another season ... And ABC's Nightline will have a five-week prime time run at 10 p.m. Thursdays beginning Aug. 6. It will be a five-part series on the American prison system.
