S E R I E S

Dharma and Greg (8 p.m., ABC) opens a new season with an episode in which Dharma wants to adopt a baby. Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place (8:30 p.m., ABC) also has its season opener. When last we saw Harry on 3rd Rock from the Sun (9 p.m., NBC), he was being abducted by his lady friend's jealous ex. In tonight's season opener, we find that Harry has been sold to a carnival freak show. On the season premiere of The Drew Carey Show (9 p.m., ABC), Drew is targeted by three disgruntled employees. NewsRadio (9:30 p.m., NBC) begins its season with a tribute to Phil Hartman in the guise of a tribute to his character, Bill McNeal, who has died of a heart attack. Bill/Phil's co-workers reminisce and try to come to grips with the fact that he's gone. The season opener of Law & Order (10 p.m., NBC) introduces McCoy's new partner, Assistant District Attorney Abbie Carmichael (Angie Harmon of "Baywatch Nights").

Vince Gill hosts the Country Music Association Awards (8 p.m., CBS), which takes place at the Grand Ole Opry. Performers include George Strait, Garth Brooks with Trisha Yearwood, Alan Jackson, Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks.
