The networks and cable news outlets were planning to preempt regular programming to air live coverage of the House of Representatives' dog and pony show -- er -- impeachment debate (10 a.m. EST, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC). However, it's now likely that the debate itself will be preempted by U.S. airstrikes against Iraq. Biblical scholars puzzle over the question Who Was Moses? (9 p.m., Discovery Channel) in a new documentary. Had enough politics today? Unwind with a rerun of the classic A Beavis and Butt-head Christmas (10 p.m., MTV), guaranteed to make you proud again to be an American.
On Friends (8 p.m., NBC), Rachel thinks her boyfriend and his sister are a little too close, and Ross encourages Joey to write a script. The new series Gospel From the House of Blues (8 p.m., VH1) chronicles the history of gospel music and spotlights current headliners. Kirk Franklin performs. On the holiday episode of Frasier (9 p.m., NBC), the Cranes have to pretend to be Jewish to cover Frasier's fib to his new girlfriend (guest Amy Brenneman). Carter performs a Christmas Eve resuscitation that illustrates the limits of medical miracles on ER (10 p.m., NBC).
