Bellwether of the Oscars and Emmys, or just a big joke? The Golden Globe Awards (8 p.m. Sun., NBC) are here again, honoring the best 1998 movies and TV. Jack Nicholson is scheduled to receive a lifetime achievement award. Patrick Stewart plays an Alzheimer's patient who fears he's the target of a murder plot in the new cable movie Safe House (8 p.m. Sun., Showtime). The new TV movie Outlaw Justice (9 p.m. Sun., CBS) stars Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson as a pair of gunslingers out to avenge the death of their friend (Waylon Jennings). The two-part series Fifty Years War: Israel and the Arabs (check local times Sun., PBS) chronicles the ongoing turmoil that resulted from the partitioning of the Holy Land in 1948.
Conspiracy-theorizing talk radio host Art Bell appears as himself on Millennium (9 p.m. Fri., Fox) in an episode in which Black helps former ally Peter Watts search for his abducted daughter. On Martial Law (9 p.m. Sat., CBS), Sammo and Terrell go undercover at a school to prevent the kidnapping of a drug lord's son. Cameron Diaz is the host on a rerun of Saturday Night Live (11:30 p.m. Sat., NBC), with music from Smashing Pumpkins. Naomi and Wynonna Judd are profiled on a new Biography (8 p.m. EST/9 PST Sun., A&E). On The X-Files (9 p.m. Sun., Fox), Scully gets a new partner (watch your back, girl) for an investigation into a crime scene photographer suspected of murder. Robert De Niro squirms in the hot seat on Inside the Actors Studio (9 p.m. Sun., Bravo). In part three of The Sopranos (9 p.m. Sun., HBO), a Hasidic Jew won't be intimidated by the mob, Meadow wants to score some crystal meth and Christopher and Brendan go too far. The Practice (10 p.m. Sun., ABC) reruns the one where Eugene hates himself for defending a child molester and Bobby acts as second chair for his senile mentor.
