Films of the decade: "Jackass: The Movie"

It's smart, stupid, funny, dangerous and gross -- what more do you want from an American movie?

I don't want to spoil the simplicity of "Jackass: The Movie" with an overly intellectual rationale. It's 90 minutes of man-boys showing off and hurting each other in order to make each other laugh and attract the attention of girls. Back in 2002 it was glorious to witness the No. 1 film in America consist mostly of naked guys fighting and wrestling and putting things in their own and each other's asses.

And deep down, Steve-O is still worried about disappointing his dad! It's smart, stupid, funny, dangerous, gross, human -- basically everything I look for in a movie. I will treasure it and watch it again and again for the rest of my life.

The best film that finally made it to America this decade is Marco Ferreri's 1969 "Dillinger Is Dead." Fuck that hippy-dippy flower-power bullshit. A gun is still a gun no matter how you paint it, and a man is still a man ... for better or worse.
