Series

On Malcolm in the Middle (8 p.m., Fox), the family goes to a fancy restaurant. Uh-oh. Biography (8 p.m., A&E) has a new profile of quintessential country bad boy Merle Haggard, appropriately titled "The Real Deal." The late David Dukes had one of his last roles as Andie's dad on Dawson's Creek (8 p.m., WB). He shows up tonight to reward his daughter's academic achievement. Eric Bogosian guests as the network's crybaby programming chief on Welcome to New York (8:30 p.m., CBS). On The West Wing (9 p.m., NBC), Toby, Sam and C.J. accompany Bartlet on a late-night flight to Portland, Ore., and a gay congressman who's opposed to legalizing same-sex marriages makes his feelings known to Josh. Ben's father (guest John Ritter) and Felicity have an awkward moment on Felicity (9 p.m., WB). On Law & Order (10 p.m., NBC), a murder suspect flees to Israel, and an extradition fight begins.

Specials

The miniseries American Tragedy (9 p.m., CBS), dramatizing the O.J. Simpson criminal trial, concludes. Ron Silver and Ving Rhames star. The documentary series Napoleon (9 p.m., PBS, check local times) also wraps up with a two-hour installment in which Napoleon crowns himself emperor and then plummets from the heights of power.
