Manly ad secrets: Lions and jet planes, oh my!

Funny or Die takes on the ridiculous business of selling razors and deodorant to men

Published June 2, 2010 4:50PM (EDT)

I've often amused myself by trying to imagine the brainstorming sessions behind ads for Axe, Gillette and other testosterone-infused brands meant to put hair on your chest (or make you feel like a man while you shave it off). The folks at Funny or Die have taken those musings to a whole 'nother level with the video "Manly Men Ads" (via Jezebel). This spoof pitch meeting offers up delightful fratboyisms along the lines of, "Shaving: It's like jet planes." Also: "Why would people use our deodorant? Oh I dunno, maybe 'cuz our ads feature a lion riding a Sea-Doo." In the manly ad men's world, there is but one measure of good ad copy: An erection.
