Acceptance Speech
Thank you, loyal Salon readers, for the great honor of being selected Drama Queen for a Day. After that shameful meal 29 years ago, I vowed that one day hundreds -- nay, thousands of people would know of my outrage, and I would be avenged. Little did I realize that I would also have the opportunity to reach out to mothers across the nation. Yes, to reach out and frighten you from doing the same thing to your own teenage daughters, no matter how zealously you want to know what they don't want to tell you. So take heed my friends, and let your troublesome adolescents retain some semblance of dignity in their most awkward years. And know that, however grievous your suffering may be, their suffering is tenfold, their memory is long and they may just read Salon Magazine.
