Acceptance Speech
MICHELLE STEIN

Applause-o-meter

To all my fellow travelers,

Who knew when I set out that day 14 years ago that I had a date with destiny. I was taking my first step on the road to Drama Queendom. From this lofty perch, which you good people have elevated me to, I would like to pay homage -- not to Marco Polo, not to Christopher Columbus or Lewis and Clark (although we must all remember Sacajawea, who gave birth while pulling those scruffy boys all the way to the West Coast), but to all the mothers out there hurtling down this road of life at 70 mph. They are the true explorers. They face untold dangers every day and push themselves to the limits of human endurance by simply saying, "Come on kids, get in the car."

In closing, I would like to offer a postscript to my pickle-flecked adventure. Remember that beautiful blond-haired angel of a baby who gave me an alternative hair styling tool? Well, as I write this he is 35 days from receiving his learner's permit. I've already bought a jar of pickles ...

Your Drama Queen,
Michelle Stein
