Pictures she never showed me

My mother was raped at age 13. Our biweekly photo feature.

Aug. 30, 2000 | My mother passed away on December 10th, just five days short of her birthday. Cleaning out her house, I found photos she never showed me. This one of her as a child is the only one she smiled in. It was taken in 1920 in Miami with her sister Ella on the left. My mom was raped at age 13. I found two other photos, one from 1929, another from 1931. She doesn't smile in either of them.
