Why wait in line to see dinosaurs chomping on people in Steven Spielberg's "The Lost World" when you can watch a big, nasty shark chomping on people in the comfort of your living room? Spielberg's 1975 blockbuster Jaws (8:05 p.m, TBS) rises again. Where Are They Now? (9 p.m., CBS), a rerun, profiles past newsmakers. The eight-hour series American Visions (9 p.m., PBS) is a history of American art, hosted by celebrated critic Robert Hughes. Two episodes air back-to-back tonight. The director of "Mean Streets," "Taxi Driver" and "Raging Bull" is honored in the American Film Institute Salute to Martin Scorsese (10 p.m., CBS). Robert DeNiro, James Woods and host Sharon Stone are among those paying tribute.

Is Dave going soft? David Letterman showed a heretofore unheralded kid-friendly side on May 24 when he treated 100 underprivileged St. Louis youngsters to a day at the Motorola 300 Indy-car race. Letterman, who is co-owner of Bobby Rahal's racing team, contributed grandstand seats, lunch, a pit tour and souvenir T-shirts to the St. Louis Dreams for Youth foundation. No word on whether the kids also got driving lessons from Uncle Dave, who has clocked some impressive speeds on the New York-to-Connecticut highway circuit.
