Hot, steamy footage!

Some Web sites bring you breaking news in celebrity sex tapes. Here at Broadsheet, we find that a bit clichéd. And boring! No, we dig deeper and bring you the real grit of the human sexual experience. Which is why we are proud to offer this hot, steamy footage of … the first-ever video of human ovulation.

Ooh, the dramatic tension: Will the mucus plug ever manage to break away? Will the fallopian tube find what it's searching for? You'll have to watch the video to find out.

Actually, the narrative arc here is all a bit hard to discern. This is like a transvaginal laparoscopy directed by David Lynch. What the hell is going on? (Over at YouTube, one poster is already crying fake. Hey, that's not a transvaginal laparoscopy. Those are sock puppets!)

But I'm going to trust the Belgian doctors on this one, and it's all pretty nifty -- even if the star player never does make an appearance. As one of the doctors told New Scientist, "The ovum is not captured 'naked' ... There is no eruption like a volcano." So if you're biting your nails to see the egg, well, you'll have to wait for the sequel. (Via Boing Boing.)
