On the personal embarrassment front, there's just no match for marginal Democratic presidential candidate Mike Gravel, who defended his decision to file for bankruptcy in 2004 Wednesday night by saying that the credit card companies deserved to be stuck with his bills.
That said, Sen. Joe Biden came close. When the Democratic presidential debate turned to the issue of immigration, Biden addressed it for a bit, then said, "I wish I'd get to talk about something I know about, like foreign policy."
