Oct. 17, 2007 | George W. Bush's pick to replace Alberto Gonzales goes before the Senate Judiciary Committee today, but you'll be excused if you don't feel the need to glue yourself to C-SPAN. Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy says he likes Michael Mukasey and expects him to be confirmed. Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer, who led the charge against Gonzales, does Leahy one better: "If the hearings go as well as the interviews [with senators] have, then he'll be confirmed by a very large majority."
