May. 21, 2008 | Just as Hillary Clinton was about to take the stage following her victory in Kentucky, Barack Obama's campaign released its fundraising numbers for April: He took in $31.3 million, and he expanded his base by 200,000 first-time donors to the campaign.
The Obama money-machine looks unstoppable. Ninety-four percent of his donors gave less than $200, meaning they've probably got a lot more cash to dole out should he need it to battle John McCain.
More than 1.4 million people have given to Obama so far, with an average donation of $91.
The campaign says it has $37.3 million on hand for the primary election, and $9.2 million more for the general.
