Obama speaks Spanish in new ad

The spot is aimed at Puerto Rico, which votes Sunday and is the biggest remaining primary prize. Video

Barack Obama's campaign has just released a new ad that features the candidate speaking in Spanish. It's directed at Puerto Rico, which will hold its primary on Sunday, and the large Spanish-speaking population there. Thus far, Obama has had difficulty with the Latino vote, which in previous primaries has typically gone to Hillary Clinton.

Ben Smith has the English translation of what Obama says in the ad:

I'm Barack Obama and I approve this message.

I was born on an island, and I understand that food, gas, and everything costs more.

Puerto Rico has a right to a better future. My plan offers new incentives to replace the 40,000 jobs that have been lost. And invest in the education of Puerto Rican children.

On June 1st, it would be an honor to count on your vote.
