The document saying of Grave 449, "CASKET IN GRAVE REMAINS UNKNOWN"
This is a copy of a "grave card," obtained by Salon in its
investigation of Arlington National Cemetery. This card is for Grave 449 in Arlington's Section 68. The grave cards record some basic information on the identity of the remains in each grave. In 2003, Arlington officials dug into the ground to bury someone in grave No. 449 and found remains already interred there. There was no headstone, and Arlington officials were unable to find any records of who is buried there.
