Insta-controversy: GPS corset

A designer puts a tracking system in her lingerie line: Is it a modern chastity belt or a publicity stunt?

How might an enterprising lingerie designer gain global attention for her brand? She could always manufacture a controversy by attaching a GPS tracking device to one of her sexy little numbers and naming it the "Find Me If You Can" line. Then she could put her feet up and just wait for the indignation over this high-tech chastity belt for jealous and controlling lovers.

It seems to me that is exactly what Brazilian designer Lucia Iorio has done. Her white corset comes decorated with red flowers along the bra and, wedged behind the see-through bodice, a clunky black device (we're talking larger than an old-school pager) reading "GPS" in bold pink letters. To say the tracking system seems like an afterthought would be quite the understatement. It's insta-controversy!

Of course, the Daily Mail was more than happy to oblige and took the news to a single humorless feminist for reaction, which resulted in the headline "Feminists Offended by 'Chastity Belt' Underwear Featuring GPS Tracking System," and the lead paragraph "Feminists around the world have reacted with horror to a new line of lingerie that comes equipped with a GPS tracking system." Offended, horrified? Not so much. Mildly amused? Most definitely -- especially after checking out the line's YouTube advertisement. Enjoy:
