Rep. Tom Reynolds, R-N.Y., will reportedly announce his retirement at a press conference Thursday. Reynolds' departure will bring the tally of retiring Republican congressmen to 29; on the other side of the aisle, only six Democrats have announced their retirement thus far.

Reynolds barely survived the 2006 election, when he was tied to the Mark Foley scandal. If he were to run this time around, he'd be linked to even more scandal; several hundred thousand dollars were allegedly embezzled from the National Republican Congressional Committee during one of the years Reynolds served as its chairman.
