Bush: "I trust Karl Rove"

At a Rose Garden press conference this morning, George W. Bush was asked whether his vow to bring a higher standard to the White House -- to do "not only what is legal, but what is right" -- might not suggest that Karl Rove should be held accountable for leaking Valerie Plame's identity regardless of whether he'll ever face criminal prosecution.

The answer was pretty clearly no. Tuesday's Rove news brought a "sigh of relief" to the White House, Bush said, "and now we're going to move forward." Bush declined to say much more, citing the impending trial of Scooter Libby, but he did say: "I trust Karl Rove."
