George W. Bush, Aug. 30, 2006: "Iraq is the central front in this war on terror. If we leave the streets of Baghdad before the job is done, we will have to face the terrorists in our own cities. We will stay the course."

White House press secretary Tony Snow, Sept. 5, 2006: "The idea that somehow we're staying the course is just wrong. It is absolutely wrong."

(Think Progress has compiled a greatest-hits package of "stay the course" declarations, at least a couple of them coming from the mouth of Snow himself.)
