More troops for Iraq? Study Group says not necessarily

More troops should be embedded with Iraqi forces, but they could come from those already in Iraq.

The Iraq Study Group's report calls for the United States to "significantly increase the number of U.S. military personnel, including combat troops, embedded in and supporting Iraqi Army units."

Does that mean that the study group is advocating -- as John McCain and now Democratic Rep. Silvestre Reyes are -- that the Pentagon send more troops to Iraq? Not necessarily. At a press conference this morning, study group member and former Defense Secretary William Perry said that the additional troops "can come out of the combat brigades that we already have there."
