From the "Department of Opposite Thinking" comes Weekly Standard editor and Fox News pundit Bill Kristol, who says that not pardoning Scooter Libby now "is to leave" a "cloud hanging over his White House and over the war."
Kristol must be confusing 2007 with a time when the president was so popular that his word -- "He's a good man!" "He has a good heart!" -- was enough to persuade people of someone's merit. Say what you will about the Libby trial -- despite the jury's guilty verdicts, Kristol says the case should never have been brought -- those days are gone forever.
