Time to think

Sen. Trent Lott said Monday what a lot of congressional Republicans are apparently thinking: By this fall, "we have to see some significant changes on the ground, in Baghdad and other surrounding areas."

Or else? Well, as the Associated Press explains, Lott declined to say. He did say, however, that lawmakers have time to think about the "or else" before they have to decide.

It must be nice.

Twenty-seven U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the first day of May. At this rate, an additional 500 Americans will be dead by the first day of fall.
