The New York Times' Patrick Healy checks in with some encouraging news for Hillary Clinton: "She was booed more lightly and gently at this morning's Take Back America gathering of liberal activists than she was a year ago."
Clinton took a beating at last year's Take Back America conference when she said that she thought it was unwise either to have an "open-ended commitment" to keeping U.S. troops in Iraq or to set a "date certain" for their withdrawal.
As Healy notes, Clinton has changed her take on Iraq since then -- she has endorsed the idea of a deadline for the withdrawal of most U.S. troops and moved for the repeal of the 2002 resolution that authorized George W. Bush to use force -- and the changes led to a warmer welcome from antiwar activists today.
When Clinton got to the subject of Iraq today, a handful of protesters held up signs that read: "Lead Us Out of Iraq Now!" Clinton's response: "That's what we're trying to do."
