"See, here at Fox we like to be feminine"

The TVNewser blog has caught what may just have been the most awkward, unpleasant 30 seconds of a news broadcast in recent memory -- a half-minute that includes an explanation of why Fox News' female anchors and reporters wear skirts. (We always thought it was because the network wanted to show off its female employees' legs -- ever notice they're rarely given full desks to sit behind? -- though, sadly, it's not like Fox is unique in exploiting female journalists for their sex appeal.)

Appearing on "Fox & Friends" on Sunday, Fox's Ainsley Earhardt explained, "See, here at Fox we like to be feminine. We don't wear the pants." Then she asked co-host Brian Kilmeade, "Would you like us to wear pants, Brian?" That prompted Kilmeade to respond, "No, no," and add later, "If I was to run for office, I would run on the pro-skirt platform."

Thankfully, co-host Gretchen Carlson finally stepped in and put an end to everyone's pain, saying to Kilmeade, "I think you should stop now." And for once, we agreed with Carlson.

To get the full flavor of the segment, you really have to watch the video, which is below.
