Clinton, Obama pick up new superdelegate support

Both Democratic presidential candidates added to their superdelegate counts on Monday. First, New Mexico Sen. Jeff Bingaman endorsed Barack Obama, which means that Obama now has more Democratic senators officially in his corner than Hillary Clinton has in hers.

Later in the day, Clinton picked up the support of North Carolina's Mike Easley, who will reportedly endorse Clinton at an event Tuesday. Obviously, this is in some way more important than the usual superdelegate endorsement, as Easley is a two-term governor in a state that has an important primary fast approaching. But my standard warning about the value of endorsements applies -- in this day and age, the typical politician's support simply doesn't mean that much in moving voters.
