Obama's bump

Evidence from Gallup that Obama's world tour mattered most where it was supposed to -- at home.

From the "Why Didn't Democratic Nominees Past Figure This Out Before Obama Arrived on the Scene?" Department, here is the latest Gallup poll showing Obama with his widest lead in head-to-head matchups with John McCain. For now, at least, it looks like the trip worked as planned both abroad and where it matters most between now and November: among voters at home.

We will see if Stage 2 of the Obama campaign's Assurance Tour, which began today as Obama convened with some economic power players, and is intended to bolster the Democrat's chops on domestic and economic issues, works as well. Andrew Leonard has more about the economic powwow.
