Florida, Michigan delegations go for Obama

DENVER -- Remember all that controversy over how delegates from Florida and Michigan would be allocated, if they'd even be allowed to vote at the Democratic convention at all? Turns out it didn't end up meaning all that much.

Hillary Clinton had won the primaries in both states, which became the subject of controversy because they were held earlier than allowed under party rules. And she, her campaign and her supporters fought hard to get what they believed was her due in pledged delegates from the two states.

But just now, during the roll call here at the Pepsi Center, both delegations went overwhelmingly for Obama. Florida delivered 136 votes to Obama, and just 51 to Clinton; there was one abstention. Michigan gave 125 of its votes to Obama and 27 to Clinton; there were five abstentions.
