McCain campaign manager Davis ducking the press

Rick Davis, who's been hit hard by articles detailing his company's ongoing relationship with Freddie Mac, skips out on a lunch with reporters.

If they've learned nothing else from the Bush administration, John McCain's campaign has apparently learned this one thing -- when in doubt, just head to an undisclosed location.

That's what McCain's campaign manager, Rick Davis, is doing Wednesday instead of going to a planned lunch with reporters sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor, the Chicago Sun-Times' Lynn Sweet reports. Davis, of course, is in hot water after several media outlets reported that his firm has been on Freddie Mac's payroll continuously since 2006, contrary to the McCain camp's assertions.
