Another bad interview for Palin

Sarah Palin got lucky on Wednesday. John McCain's announcement that he's suspending his campaign ensured that the spectacle of Palin's interview with CBS's Katie Couric would go relatively unnoticed. Considering Palin's performance, that will probably work to her advantage.

This was Palin's second major interview since being chosen as McCain's running mate -- third, if you count her sit-down with Fox News' Sean Hannity. (You shouldn't.) This time, fortunately for her, she didn't make any major flubs, didn't get trapped and reveal the depth of her ignorance, as she did when she was stumped by Charlie Gibson's question about the Bush doctrine. At some point, though, Palin needs to start showing something, anything at all. And she didn't do that in her interview with Couric, which was a mishmash of hesitation, fumbling and poorly recited talking points. The video is below; the second half of the interview airs Thursday night.
