Politico reports that Rep. Tim Mahoney, D-Fla., who has been rocked by two sex scandals, ethics questions and an FBI investigation all just this week, may not seek reelection.
Mahoney, who was elected in 2006 to fill Mark Foley's seat in Congress, has been campaigning for reelection but may now elect to retire, an unnamed "Democratic leadership aide with ties to his campaign" told Politico.
"At this time, he has no plans to resign and continues with the campaign,” a Mahoney spokeswoman said Thursday. Politico's Daniel W. Reilly writes in a blog post on the subject that "Democratic leadership aides" pointed to the "at this time" part of that sentence.
