If flying shoes or his miserable approval ratings hadn't already convinced President Bush that he's become the lamest of lame ducks, another bit of bad news he got Thursday might finally bring about that realization.

Rupert Murdoch's Fox Business Network has filed a lawsuit against the United States Treasury Department, alleging that Treasury has failed to respond to two Freedom of Information Act requests. The network sought information about how the money distributed to A.I.G., the Bank of New York Mellon and Citigroup as part of the $700 billion bailout has been used.

Kevin Magee, executive vice president of Fox News, said, “The Treasury has repeatedly ignored our requests for information on how the government is allocating money to these troubled institutions. In a critical time like this amidst mounting corruptions and an economic crisis, we as a news organization feel it’s more important than ever to hold the government accountable.”
