Hillary Clinton's campaign says that Amie Parnes' report, referenced in an earlier post here, is not true and that members of the advance staff have not essentially been told they're out of a job.
"Members of Hillary Clinton's advance staff received calls and emails [Sunday] evening from headquarters summoning them to New York City Tuesday night, and telling them their roles on the campaign are ending," Parnes had reported. "The advance staffers ... are being given the options of going to New York for a final day Tuesday, or going home."
The Clinton campaign denies this is the case. According to First Read, the word from the campaign is that staffers were just being given the option of going to New York for the "victory party" to be held after the Montana and South Dakota primaries Tuesday night, or going home to await plans for future events. "We just haven't figured out our schedule past Tuesday," Clinton spokesman Mo Elleithee told Politico.
That said, however, the Atlantic's Marc Ambinder reports one more sign that the Clinton campaign is getting ready to wrap up its efforts: "Clinton Campaign staffers and former campaign staffers are being urged by the Clinton campaign's finance department to turn in their outstanding expense receipts by the end of the week. That's a sign, to them, that the campaign wants to get its affairs in order soon. If Clinton were staying in the race, there'd be no real reason to collect these receipts now," Ambinder says.
