A new group, the Coalition for Constitutional Values, is jumping in to the battle over Judge Sonia Sotomayor's nomination to the Supreme Court early. The organization, which is co-chaired by the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, Alliance for Justice and People for the American Way, has released an ad supporting President Obama's choice.
It's not the slickest TV spot ever, but then, there wasn't much time to put much of an ad together, and being the first to strike is probably of more value anyway. The group says it's spending six figures to air the ad, which you can view below, on national network news and cable news. That typically means the spot is less about persuading voters and more about affecting opinionmakers' discourse.
