Judiciary Committee votes to confirm Sotomayor

On an almost entirely party-line vote, the committee sends the Supreme Court nomination to the full Senate

As expected, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted Tuesday morning to confirm Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court. The nomination will now move to the full Senate for a vote there, which is also expected to go in her favor.

The committee split 13-6 on Sotomayor, almost completely along party lines. All of the committee's Democrats voted for her, while all but one of its Republicans voted against. South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham was the only member to break ranks -- he supported the nominee.
