Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has reportedly been hospitalized for pancreatic cancer surgery.
Unfortunately, what Ginsburg has is a particularly nasty, lethal form of cancer. The good news, though, is that hers was discovered early, during a routine exam, according to the Associated Press. That increases her chance of survival, as one of the things that makes pancreatic cancer so fatal is that it's usually not discovered until it has already spread to other parts of the body.
This isn't the first time the justice has been treated for cancer; she had colon cancer in 1999.
Ginsburg is part of the court's liberal wing; she was appointed by then-President Bill Clinton in 1993.
