Salon Serves Up Daily Edition SAN FRANCISCO, CA, JANUARY 31, 1997 | Salon Magazine will go to an all-daily publication schedule beginning February 3. "The Web audience has an insatiable appetite for intelligent commentary and irreverent prose -- and we're going to do our best to feed that gaping maw on a daily basis," said David Talbot, Salon's editor and CEO. Salon, named "Best Web Site of 1996" by Time magazine, is also adding several exciting new editorial sections and columnists. In addition to regular daily departments like Newsreal, Media Circus, and Salon's book and music reviews, other features and columns in the new daily rotation include: James Carville, who will alternate each Monday with conservative polemicist David Horowitz, co-author of "The Rockefellers" and "The Kennedys." Provocative essayist Camille Paglia's new advice column, which will alternate with the brilliant post-Gonzo journalist and enfant terrible Cintra Wilson on Tuesdays. Salon Taste, a new Food & Wine section, which will be posted every Wednesday, featuring Bob Blumer (The Surreal Gourmet) and Patric Kuh (The Burnt-Out Chef). Courtney Weaver's highly personal "Unzipped" column also appears every Wednesday. 21st, a new section focusing on "technology for non-geeks," which will appear every Thursday. Best-selling author Anne Lamott's column will publish on alternate Thursdays. New movies, reviewed every Friday, along with "Sound Salvation," a new music column by Sarah Vowell, author of "Radio On." Salon, which debuted in November 1995, is sponsored by Adobe Systems and Borders Books & Music. In the last year, Salon's reader traffic has increased 800 percent, with a current monthly page view count of two million. - - - - - - - - - - - -
