Exit polling suggests Texan voters are anti-trade

Bad news for Obama? A majority of Texans say trade is bad.

At around 4:15 PST, MSNBC reported some intriguing exit poll results from Texas. More than 50 percent of voters believed international trade "took jobs away," while only 24 percent felt the opposite.

Given that the conventional wisdom held that Texas, by and large, is pro-NAFTA, the spinmeisters are treating this as an ominous sign for Barack Obama, whose NAFTA-bashing was significantly undermined by reports that his economic advisor, Austan Goolsbee, told Canadian officials that Obama's NAFTA position was "just rhetoric."
