Let a thousand languages flourish on the green -- The Ladies' Tour backs off its requirement for English proficiency

A victory for globalization? Apparently bruised by accusations that it was intentionally discriminating against Asians, The Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour is rescinding its recently announced policy of suspending tour members who are not proficient in English.

Good for them, although Tour commissioner Carolyn Bivens is still pretending that the policy was all about "supporting and enhancing the business opportunities for every tour player," rather than protecting the Tour's own TV ratings and lucrative pro-am money train.
