Howard Kurtz’s contract with CNN under review

CNN is reviewing "Reliable Sources" host Howard Kurtz's contract. The news, confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter by a spokesperson for the network, follows Tina Brown's announcement two days ago that the media reporter and The Daily Beast had parted ways.

Sources also told the Hollywood Reporter that CNN is not likely to renew Kurtz's contract. "The network is also looking into Kurtz's involvement with the web site The Daily Download after media organizations raised the specter of a conflict of interest between Kurtz's day job and his freelance role at the site that was launched in February 2012," writes THR.

Jason Collins made sports history this week, in a splashy cover for Sports Illustrated, when he became the first openly gay male professional athlete, drawing praise from fellow athletes, journalists and politicians, including President Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton.

But for years, Collins, who came out with the simple line “I’m a 34-year-old NBA center. I’m black. And I’m gay,” was so guarded about his sexual orientation that he even kept it hidden from his ex-fiancée, former WNBA player Carolyn Moos.

“Today” anchor comes out as lesbian, announces pregnancy

"Today" weekend anchor Jenna Wolfe made two big announcements this morning: Wolfe came out as a lesbian, introducing her partner as "NBC News" correspondent Stephanie Gosk, and said the two are expecting their first child.

She tweeted, "Well, Here we go!!" this morning in anticipation, then announced, "I'm pregnant, I'm quite pregnant," on this morning's show. The couple's baby girl is due in June. "I know I'm not the first person to have a baby, but I am having a baby for the first time," Wolfe joked, saying that she plans to write a humorous blog as the pregnancy progresses.

The announcement coincides with a spread in People magazine. “This is the most exciting thing that has ever happened to us,” Wolfe told People. “But I don’t want to bring my daughter into a world where I’m not comfortable telling everyone who I am and who her mother is.”

Gosk and Wolfe are planning to get married, too. “The beauty is that we live in a time where there’s no need for secrecy,” Gosk explains to People. “This is a spectacular moment for us.”
