Privacy groups, in chorus with <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/02/11/airport-body-scanner-fatw_n_459352.html">Muslim</a> religious groups around the world, decried the images as an offensive invasion of privacy. Similarly, the rigorous pat-downs, available to passengers who choose to opt out of the scans, have been criticized as invasive and humiliating.
