No women allowed: Summer music festivals are dudefests, again

Texas had just shaken off the last bits of a chilly spring. The elegant Austin City Limits Live’s Moody Theatre was packed in anticipation of a concert by the hot French band Phoenix. Producer Terry Lickona took the stage to give the customary warnings about cellphone usage during the TV show taping, and managed to whip what can be an austere crowd into a frenzy.

“You know what happens at 12:01 tonight,” he said to a flurry of preemptive cheers.

They did: The lineup for the 14th Austin City Limits Music Festival would be released in the wee hours of the morning. No doubt many members of the crowd fought sleep in anticipation of poring over a lineup of heavyweights fit for the festival's debut as a two-weekend affair. The Cure, Depeche Mode and Lionel Richie ultimately crowned the six-day bill, topping a collection of burgeoning acts and festival veterans.

Daniel Silbert has been photographing New York band fun. for years, capturing their rise to stardom. The band, composed of Nate Reuss, Andrew Dost and Jack Antonoff, won a Grammy for best new artist of 2012. A week before the awards ceremony, fun. performed to a sold-out audience at New York's Radio City Music Hall.

Silbert, who was backstage with the performers, documented the night in a photo exhibition titled "One Night," now on display at Rivington Design House Gallery until April 29. Below are photos from his collection:

Black Keys, fun., Rihanna to perform at Grammys

NEW YORK (AP) — The Black Keys and fun. will make their debut on the Grammy stage next month.

The Recording Academy announced Wednesday that the multiple Grammy nominees will perform at the awards, airing live on CBS from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Feb. 10.

Nominees Mumford & Sons, Taylor Swift and Rihanna will also hit the stage.

Leading the nominees with six nominations each are the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach, fun., Kanye West, Frank Ocean, Mumford & Sons and Jay-Z.

Fun. is nominated in all major categories, including best new artist and song, record and album of the year. Fun. will compete for album of the year with Ocean, Mumford & Sons, the Black Keys and Jack White.

The 55th annual Grammy Awards will be hosted by LL Cool J.
