The abandoned capuchin monkey will become German property unless the singer claims him

Justin Bieber, a human monkey, has until midnight to save his pet monkey Mally, who has had the misfortunate of becoming a metaphor for the teenage singer's sanity. The 20-week-old capuchin was quarantined in Germany after the singer failed to produce paperwork necessary for Mally's international air travel.

It does not seem that Bieber, who has had seven weeks to claim the infant monkey, is likely to do so. Emails from his management to the animal shelter "indicated the singer doesn't want the monkey anymore," reports the AP. "Our contact is the person that the monkey belongs to," said customs office spokesman Thomas Meister. "We've had contact with lots of people, but none of them was an authorized representative."

"If no further documents arrive, then the seizure order comes into effect, and the animal becomes the property of the German state," said Meister.

Regardless of whether he reclaims Mally or not, Bieber also owes thousands of dollars in shelter costs used to care for the capuchin."You can bet we are going to ask for that money back," said Meister.

Justin Bieber, a real person, has survived a hug/attack/tackle from a male fan who rushed him onstage at a concert in Dubai.

It's been a bad week for teen-pop singer Justin Bieber: he fainted at a concert in London, later tweeting a shirtless photo to prove he'd recuperated. This after he showed up two hours late to another concert, tried to bring a bunch of underage teens (including actor Jaden Smith, 14) to a nightclub, and wandered the streets of the British capital in a state of undress.

Teddy Wayne, whose novel The Love Song of Jonny Valentine came out in January, isn't surprised. Wayne's novel deals with a male pop star who's a bit younger than the 19-year-old Bieber, but who still finds his way to all-night clubs, prescription drugs, and disappointing his fans on a way-too-long tour. The book was written back when Bieber was the apple-cheeked nice boy of pop.

LONDON (AP) — Justin Bieber apologized Tuesday to his young fans — and their outraged, overtired parents — after they accused him of taking the stage almost two hours late for a concert in London.

The singer insisted he had only been 40 minutes late, and blamed "technical issues."

But, he added in a tweet to his 35 million followers: "There is no excuse for that and I apologize for anyone we upset. However it was great show and I'm proud of that."

Concertgoers said the teenage star appeared onstage at the 02 Arena on Monday at 10:30 p.m., when the start time had been listed as 8:30. Many in the audience, who had been waiting for hours, faced the choice between leaving early or missing the last trains home.

"There were teenage girls crying outside," said financial analyst Louise Cooper, who had taken her 9-year-old daughter to the gig as a birthday present.

"The ladies sitting with us had to leave after 20 minutes and they had spent 70 quid (70 pounds, about $106) each on a ticket, which is really bad.

"It's one thing if your demographic is 50-year-olds, but his demographic is lots of little girls who need to go home and go to bed."

That seals the deal," Martin said.

A sporting Bieb manages to pull off double-duty in this weird V-Day weekend edition

It's always a risk having a musical guest take on hosting duties — not everyone has the gift for sketch comedy — but so far, "SNL" has been lucky, with Justin Timberlake over the years, Bruno Mars earlier this season, and now the 18-year-old teen heartthrob. Does the Bieb have Timberlake comic chops? Not quite. But the kid was game for anything, and after reportedly being waylaid by food poisoning during rehearsals this week, he demonstrated himself to be a real trouper, letting the cast and writers make fun of his homeboy posturing, naïveté, lack of textbook smarts, recent weed "scandal (for which he apologized, in a Miley Cyrus sketch), his barely pubescent presence (does he shave yet? That face is smooove) and the throngs of girls (and women) who worship him because or in spite of it. I finally sort of see the appeal — not of his music (oh God, it's bad), but of him. He's the Leif Garrett of the 21st century, an aspiring badass pinup — albeit one with a sweet face and killer eyebrows.

Brit conservatives auction off an evening with the Bieb — without informing the pop star

The Tories have auctioned an exclusive meeting with Justin Bieber to raise money for their party, without informing the pop star of their plans, according to the Daily Mail. A wealthy financier scored the backstage passes for £10,000 ($15,638) for four teenage girls to go backstage to have a meet-and-greet with the pop star in March, at London's O2 arena. The tickets were donated by Universal Music UK, Bieber's British record label.

The auction took place at the Conservative party's annual fundraiser, the very exclusive, glitzy Black and White Party — hosted at the Hurlingham Club in Fulham, West London — and rakes in hundreds of thousands of pounds every year. The Conservatives are eager to overstuff David Cameron's coffers because he has to run an aggressive campaign in the next two years to secure the majority, which he failed to do during his run in 2010.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The 29-year-old photographer had just snapped shots of Justin Bieber's exotic white Ferrari when he was struck and killed by a passing car — a death that has spurred renewed debate over dangers paparazzi can bring on themselves and the celebrities they chase.

The accident prompted some stars including the teen heartthrob himself on Wednesday to renew their calls for tougher laws to rein in their pursuers, though previous urgings have been stymied by First Amendment protections.

In a statement, Bieber said his prayers were with the photographer's family. Ironically, the singer wasn't even in the Ferrari on Tuesday.

"Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders, and the photographers themselves," Bieber said in the statement released by Island Def Jam Music Group.

Authorities have withheld the name of the photographer, killed after being hit by a Toyota Highlander, pending notification of relatives.

Much of Hollywood was abuzz about the death, including Miley Cyrus, who sent several tweets critical of some of the actions of paparazzi and lamenting that the unfortunate accident was "bound to happen."

An amateur photographer is hit by a car snapping a photo of the singer's white Ferrari -- and he wasn't even in it

In what immediately qualifies as the worst way to die of the new year thus far, a Los Angeles paparazzo was killed Tuesday while trying to obtain photographs … of Justin Bieber's car.

Bieber was reportedly not even in his white Ferrari when it was pulled over by California Highway Patrol for speeding — a friend of the singer was behind the wheel while Bieber was elsewhere. But the car – and Bieber's vehicular comings and goings – are familiar to local lensmen. In November, Judge Thomas Rubinson dismissed a reckless driving charge against photographer Paul Raef, who in July was involved in a high-speed freeway chase in pursuit of Bieber. At the time, Raef's frantic driving, at speeds over 80 mph, prompted several 911 calls. But Robinson ruled that a 2010 law meant to curtail that kind of potentially dangerous behavior, "in pursuit of photos for commercial gain," could conflict with legitimate First Amendment-protected news gathering.

Dana Martin, a convicted murderer and rapist currently serving two life sentences, foiled his own plan to castrate and murder Justin Bieber. Dick Knipfing of New Mexico station KRQE said of the plot, "It just gets weirder, and weirder."

Martin originally hatched the perverse plot with fellow Las Cruces state prison inmate Mark Staake, who then recruited his nephew, Tanner Ruane. The plan targeted four individuals--two of Martin's former acquaintances in Vermont, and then Bieber and his bodyguard when they were in New York City a few weeks ago. KRQE reports that Martin "gave strict orders to strangle the victims with a paisley tie, the kind Martin used as his calling card" and that Ruane was to castrate them. (Martin also has a Justin Bieber tattoo on his leg).

Oddly (and luckily), however, Martin turned in Staake and Ruane before any murders took place. Police in Vermont arrested Staake on outstanding warrants before anyone was harmed, and Ruane was later arrested in New York. Police found the murder tools and pruning shears in his possession.

KRQE has the full report:
