David Bowie tops U.K. charts for first time in 20 years

At 66, David Bowie is still a leading rock icon. The Hollywood Reporter writes that his first album in a decade, "The Next Day" is the number one record in the U.K. and the country's fastest-selling album of the year so far, at 94,000 copies sold in its first week.

Bowie last topped the charts with "Black Tie White Noise" in 1993.

Some critics argue that the album is Bowie's best in 25 years; revisit a conversation between musicians Rhett Miller and Lloyd Cole on what the new album means to them.

The first David Bowie album in a decade -- held under close wraps ever since the glam-rock icon announced it on his birthday in January -- can finally be heard.

"The Next Day" began streaming on iTunes this evening, where it will remain for free and in its entirety until its release on March 12.
