The Radiohead frontman and collaborator talk about shyness and breakups

Radiohead's frontman Thom Yorke and collaborator Nigel Godrich, who usually stay away from the public eye, recently participated in Rookie Mag's long-running "Ask a Grown Man" series, in which influential men dispense sage wisdom to teenagers and young women.

Yorke and Godrich fielded questions on breakups, overcoming shyness, and insecurity.

On shyness:

Yorke: “If you have a crush on him, if you're really, really, really, really shy, which is what I was at that age -- also, I was at a boys' school so it was impossible to meet girls anyway -- how about just write him a note? Or if you can’t bear it just throw him against a wall sometime.”

On breaking up with someone boring:

Godrich: “Yeah, of course it’s okay to break up with them. But maybe you can not just say ‘Hey you’re boring me so I’m going to break up with you.’ You can be a lot more politic about it.”

Yorke: “I’d go with that, actually.”

Although Thom Yorke is currently working on Atoms for Peace, bass player Colin Greenwood says they are regrouping

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has splintered off on his own before--first in 2006 with his solo album, "Eraser," and currently with Atoms for Peace, his collaboration with Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea and drummer Mauro Refosco--but so far, he's always come back to the iconic band.

Radiohead bass player Colin Greenwood recently told BBC 6 Music that although "We're taking some time out whilst people are doing some other stuff, doing their own things," "the plan is to get back together again [at the] end of the summer."

The album would be Radiohead's ninth, following their experimental 2011 "King of Limbs" for which they launched an international tour in 2012.

"AMOK" comes out Feb. 25

Rock fans only have to wait a few more months for the new album issued by Atoms for Peace, the collaborative project by Radiohead's Thom Yorke and Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea, to arrive. Yorke announced on his blog today that "AMOK" will be out Feb. 25. He also shared the track list and the album's graphic black-and-white art.

Atoms formed to play tracks from Yorke's 2006 record, The Eraser, but soon formed into something bigger. On his blog, Yorke writes that the group "discovered a really good energy doing that.. and it fell into this record." He describes the project as "ongoing and open ended," which means that fans will continue to speculate/hope for more collaborations in the future.
